Glen Affric

Expedition Details | Kit & Accommodation | Price & Booking

Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Glen Affric is widely regarded as one of Scotland’s most beautiful glens. Renowned for its ancient Caledonian forest, crystal-clear lochs, and dramatic mountain scenery, it sits between the stunning peaks of Kintail and the rugged ones of Loch Mullardoch. This hidden gem offers a perfect combination of wild landscapes, remote ridges, and tranquil glens all in a slightly lighter expedition format.

Walking along the ridges of The Glen Affric Munros

The Expedition

We will tackle the 6 more remote and difficult-to-access Munros of Glen Affric on this expedition. Embarking on a truly unforgettable multi-day adventure. Exploring some of the most dramatic and remote mountains in Scotland. Over three days, we’ll immerse ourselves in the wild beauty of Glen Affric, staying two nights at the perfect base, deep in the heart of the area; the Glen Affric SYHA. A former stalking bothy on the Affric Estate, this friendly eco-hostel offers a unique stay and perfect location for us to target the most remote Munros of the trip. Utilising the hostel also means we can reduce the kit required as we won’t need out tents & stoves, making this a slightly lighter feeling trip than our Knoydart or Fisherfields expeditions.

On Day 1 we’ll make our way in to the hostel via a magnificent ridge traverse, summiting three outstanding Munros—Càrn Eige, Beinn Fhionnlaidh, and Mam Sodhail. Expect soaring ridges, sweeping corries, and breathtaking views as we cross high above this ancient glen.

Day 2 offers another spectacular day in the hills as we explore the heart of Glen Affric, tackling Mullach nan Dheiragain, Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan, and An Socach. Each peak offers its own unique character and panorama, with wild mountain paths and excellent ridges providing an unforgettably remote feel.

On Day 3 we’ll return from the heart of the glen, following part of the Glen Affric Kintail Way, a beautiful route that winds through ancient Caledonian forest and tranquil glens, bringing a perfect close to our mountain journey.

This is a truly rewarding multi-day walk — a perfect blend of challenge, wilderness, and the rare chance to experience some of Scotland’s finest Munros in one of its most spectacular settings.
