Ben Wyvis, The Fannichs & Seana Bhràigh Area
The A835 running between Inverness and Ullapool has a variety of mountains. The most well-known being the incredibly popular Ben Wyvis, the bulk of the Fannichs & the remote Seana Bhràigh. But there are also other remote Munros of Beinn Dearg circuit and the difficult to access Am Faochagach, not remote, but involving a river crossing which can be treacherous in wet weather.
This easy to access area from both Inverness and Ullapool is a great area to spend some time and enjoy these lovely mountains and the views they offer into surrounding areas.
Ben Wyvis
The most popular of the area, being close to Inverness and not a long day compared to some of the others, this great Munro makes for a lovely day in the mountains. The Munro summit is Glas Leathad Mòr, although this very bulky mountain is more commonly known as Ben Wyvis (if you’re looking for it on the Met Office Mountain forecast though it’s the Gaelic name you are after!). If you explore this bulking mountain along its plateau and further than the summit, you will find impressive corries, home to remote winter climbing and isolated lochs.
