This fantastic area of harsh plateaus, hidden corries, and classic winter climbing venues is truly special, offering both incredible walking and climbing. A highlight is Coire Ardair, tucked away out of sight until you venture deep into the heart of the Creag Meagaidh massif.
The approach is just as striking: driving along the A86 beside the stunning Loch Laggan gives a memorable start before reaching the trailheads for some of these remarkable Munro walks. From the summits on the southern side, you’ll also enjoy sweeping views into the Ben Alder range.

Creag Meagaidh Circuit
A Highland classic — this horseshoe offers some of the finest mountain scenery in Scotland. From Aberarder car park, a woodland track leads to Lochan a’ Choire, beneath the dramatic cliffs of Coire Ardair. A steep climb through The Window brings you onto a sweeping ridge, taking in Creag Meagaidh, Stob Poite Coire Ardair, and Carn Liath. Along the way you pass impressive corries and rugged cliffs, with breathtaking views that stretch across Loch Laggan and deep into the Highlands. This is a walk that combines challenging climbs with moments of pure tranquillity, and rewards with a truly memorable day in the hills.
Fitness: This is a long mountain day and a tough walk. Good hill fitness is required.

Monadh Liath Munros
A wide-open Highland adventure for those who love space and solitude. From Newtonmore, a high track leads into the heart of the Monadh Liath plateau, with long views unfolding as you climb. The circuit takes in A’ Chailleach, Carn Sgulain, and Carn Dearg, offering broad horizons and a deep sense of remoteness. The gentle, rounded summits and expansive moorland make this a walk of subtle beauty, with the chance to enjoy quiet, sweeping landscapes rarely seen elsewhere. It’s a perfect choice for walkers seeking a peaceful day immersed in Highland wilderness.

Location: End of minor road up Glen Banchor
Duration: 8 - 10 hours
Beinn a’ Chlachair, Geal Chàrn & Creag Pitridh
A compact but memorable triple-Munro round, offering variety and dramatic vistas. From Luiblea, a track leads past tranquil lochans before climbing steadily to Beinn a’ Chlachair, where wide views open up across the glens. Crossing high ground, you’ll take in Geal Chàrn, with its broad summit, before reaching Creag Pitridh, whose compact peak offers one of the best vantage points in the area. The circuit delivers a rewarding mix of ridge walking, open moorland, and fine panoramas, making it a standout day for those who enjoy variety, challenge, and the thrill of ticking off multiple Munros in one outing.
